Clarinetist Frederic Cardoso won several awards in national and international competitions and dedicates a significant part of his work to chamber music and contemporary music. As a soloist or taking part of ensembles, he debuted around 180 works in Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands, being dedicated of many of them.
His discography includes eighteen albums in diverse areas such as contemporary, classical, improvised, pop and world music.
He collaborated with many Orchestras and Ensembles: Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra, Foundation Studio Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Oporto Symphonic Orchestra Casa da Música and Remix Ensemble Casa da Música.
Frederic has a PhD in Music - Interpretation Specialty at the Évora University, a Master’s in Artistic Interpretation from the Oporto University of Music (ESMAE), where he studied with António Saiote and Nuno Pinto, a Master’s in Music Teaching from the Minho University, and has a Postgraduate Degree in Bass Clarinet, completed at Basque Country University of Music (Musikene), with Angel Molinos.
He is currently an effective member of the Trás-os-Montes Symphonic Band (bass clarinet and double bass clarinet), a member of Supernova Ensemble and Triedro, and is Professor of Clarinet and Wind Orchestra at the Paredes Conservatory.
