Gustavo Firmenich
Gustavo Firmenich is an argentine saxophone and clarinet player. His activities are mainly focused on the development of in two orchestras : Tango Jazz Quartet and Jazz4 and on his activities as a teacher in the Jazz4 music school. Of the latter, the following orchestras of pupils have emerged: Sotavento Big Band, Orquesta Municipal de San Miguel del Monte, Orquesta Municipal de Cañuelas, Barlovento Orquesta and El Noneto.
With Tango Jazz Quartet, G. Firmenich has obtained a very interesting musical mixture, in wich he takes the rhythm and the melodies of tango and enriches them with the harmonies and the improvisation of jazz. With Tango Jazz Quartet, he made eleven tours throughout Europa ( between 2011 and 2019) as well as a tour trought South Africa (3 tours), EEUU (3 tours), Russia (1 tour), China-Hong Kong (1 tour), Brasil (4 tours), Nigeria (1 tour) and Mozambique (1 tour).
With Sotavento Big Band he made a 3 tours in Europe (2015-2017-2019). With Orquesta de Monte he made a 2 tours in Europe (2017-2019) and 1 tour in Brasil (2018). With Orquesta de Cañuelas he made a 1 tour in Brasil (2017) and 1 tour in Europe (2019)
He is also in charge of the artistic management of the Pinamar Jazz Festival, wich in 2020 had its 19th edition since 2002, The GesellJazz Festival, Wich in 2016 had its 4th Edition and the San Miguel del Monte Jazz Festival (3 editions) and the Cañuelas Jazz Festival (3 editions).
He also published nine CD's with his groups and three CD's with his school bands. Of Tango Jazz Quartet, the published CD's are: Tango Jazz Quartet, Bailarin Compadrito, On tour 2013, On Tour 2015. Buenos Aires and Live in Paris, with Jazz4, the following CD's have been published: ''Jazz en el Subte'' wich still today is the best solf jazz Cd of Argentina, Jazz4' and Porgy & Bess. Of his School Orchestra Sotavento Big Band, two CD's have been published, namely Sotavento Big Band and Diez Años And with Orquesta de San Miguel del Monte have been published : Orquesta de Monte.
