Julien Dubois
Julien Dubois studied for ten years in several conservatories in the Ile-de-France region, where he obtained degrees in saxophone, harmony, chamber music and jazz. At the age of 20, he began to perform in Parisian clubs, and had the opportunity to play with musicians such as Emile Spanyi, Boris Blanchet, Bernard Lubat, Benjamin Henocq...
At the same time, he studied instrumental and electroacoustic composition. He composes music for the theatre (L'appartement de Zoïka by Boulgakov at the Théâtre du Soleil in 2004 and 2006), and works with the electronic musician Stéphane Bissières. He also has a passion for teaching, and built the contemporary music department at the Chelles Conservatory (77), before being hired in 2007 by the Bordeaux Conservatory (33) to design and coordinate the contemporary music and jazz department.
In 2015, he created Le JarDin, an intense and bubbling project that expresses his musical thinking and synthesizes all his years of research. In 2017, after 10 years of musical and pedagogical activities in the Aquitaine region, he founded Déluge, a collective of musicians that federates the creative jazz scene in Bordeaux and Paris, and has been organising the Montreuil Jazz Fest for the past 3 years.
