Alejandro Calzadilla

Alejandro Calzadilla is a Cuban clarinetist, saxophonist and composer.

Alejandro Calzadilla graduated from the University of the Arts (ISA) in the specialty of clarinet, under the tutelage of Vicente Monterrey.

His musical interest takes him from classical music to jazz and Cuban music. It belongs to the catalog of artists of the National Center of Concert Music of Cuba. He has performed as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, the Chamber Orchestra of Havana and the Villa Clara Symphony Orchestra.

In his jazz ensemble he interprets his works with the theme of Cuban music nuanced with the sound of classical music.

His international solo performances include venues from Venezuela and Argentina. He is a member of the Big Band of the Musical Carmen la Cubana (from the German company "BB Promotions") and Vamos Cuba! (Ballet Rakatán), touring France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Luxembourg, Holland, Lebanon and China

He has participated in different festivals and contests such as: Havana Chamber Music Festival, Les Voix Humaines Festival, Havana's JazzPlaza Festival, Chamber Music Competition “Musicalia”  2010 (1st Prize), National Clarinet Contest 2017 (2nd Prize), XVIII-X Festival of Young Clarinetists of Venezuela, among other events.

He has received classes from importants soloists such as Luis Rossi (Argentina), Antonio Saiote (Portugal), Jonathan Colher (USA), Jorge Montilla (Venezuela).

He has collaborated on important recordings, including : CD-DVD Beyond the Sunset, Of all colors and also Green, Symphonic Music by Julian Orbón, Popularly Symphonic, Alain Pérez's ADN.

In the same way he has intervened in the soundtracks of the Cuban films Casa Vieja and Fábula. He has performed in the most important concert halls in Cuba.
