Samantha Wright is a British clarinetist, composer and researcher based in Hamburg, Germany. She holds a Master’s Degree in Jazz Clarinet and was the only student of jazz legend Rolf Kühn. She has performed in concerts across Europe, Asia and the USA in addition to lecturing and leading masterclasses in improvisation, jazz history and transcription analysis.
In 2021 she released her first album How About Now, featuring a selection of jazz standards and original compositions.
She currently divides her time between touring, researching the history of the clarinet in jazz, and teaching at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg, as well as encouraging younger pupils at the Akadamie Hamburg and various workshops worldwide.
