He plays with a beautiful sound, a thorough mastery of his instrument and the musical material, as well as an emotional impact that goes far beyond his age. He has much to say on the horn. Gerard Chumilla Pérez is a Spanish jazz saxophonist and composer based in Switzerland, celebrated for his distinctive sound and exceptional musicianship. Born in 1999 in Caldes d'Estrac, a small town near Barcelona, Gerard’s musical journey began at the age of five when he started studying classical saxophone. By 15, he had fallen in love with jazz, and this passion led him to pursue the genre professionally.

Gerard’s formal education began in Barcelona, where he studied under saxophonist Prof. Eladio Reinón. Reinón’s mentorship was pivotal, helping him to refine his technique and define his musical identity. Gerard also revisited classical saxophone under the tutelage of Nacho Gascón before transferring to the renowned Jazzcampus in Basel, Switzerland.
