Michael Alizon is a teacher of jazz and improvised music at the Conservatoire and the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg. He is also coordinator of the Department of Jazz and Improvised Music.

He composes for the groups he leads, and is also the author of Le Jazz Facilement (ed. Dhalmann), a method of initiation to jazz and improvisation for wind instruments.

At the same time, he has a career as an improvising musician, with several groups including: Expanding Universe Quintet, straSax, Round The Blue Lights, (Parenthèses), Michael Alizon Around Quintet. He has shared the stage with Jerry Bergonzi, Franck Agulhon, Médéric Collignon, Daniel Humair, Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Birélie Lagrène, Benjamin Moussay, Pierre-Alain Goualch, Emil Spanyi, Eric Echampard, Bruno Chevillon, François Merville, Stéphane Guillaume, Jean-Charles Richard, Stephan Oliva and others.

He can be found on many French, European and international stages.

He has collaborated on several recordings, some of which have been critically acclaimed.
