Hugo Afettouche
Hugo Afettouche holds two jazz diplomas (CRR de Versailles and Paris), a classical saxophone diploma (CRR de Versailles) as well as the DNSPM and DE (CNSM de Paris).
As a sideman, Hugo has performed alongside Mika, MAGMA, The Temptations and Georges Benson, not to mention Wynton Marsalis, Jean-François Zygel and Dan Nimmer, in prestigious venues such as Bercy, Olympia, Jazz à la Défense, Casino de Paris, Palais des Congrès de Paris, Maison de la Radio, Pleyel...
Hugo has also been invited by the Orchestre National de France (ONF) to perform John Williams' Catch me if you can as a soloist at the Radio France auditorium. In 2021, he will join the Orchestre National de Jazz (ONJ), directed by Fred Maurin, for several new creations.
Since 2020, Hugo Afettouche has been based in Lyon, appearing in a number of projects, including the 'MB quatre' saxophone quartet, Michel Molines' 'Isla dorada' band, and the famous The Amazing Keystone Big Band.
In December 2022 he formed his own band: Hugo Afettouche & Tetralyre, a jazz fusion quartet in which he writes the music and lyrics. This electric quartet, in which the sounds of keyboards blend perfectly with those of the saxophone enhanced by effects pedals, released a first EP in September 2023 available on all platforms. Critically acclaimed, the quartet has been heard in clubs in Paris (38 Riv, Sunset Sunside) and Lyon (Hot Club de Lyon) and is regularly diffusé on the radio (France musique, club jazz à FIP).
Hugo Afettouche also teaches jazz saxophone at ENM in Villeurbanne (France).
