Jean-Pierre Sarzier
Above all an improviser, rooted in traditional music, but rocked by jazz, Jean-Pierre Sarzier made the bass clarinet his favorite instrument; he also practices the whole family of clarinets, from the contralto to the metal soprano, and enjoys exploring original invoices, such as bamboo clarinets.
Influenced by the saxophone of Mickael Brecker and the Irish bagpipe of Davy Spillane or the lute of Rabih Abou-Rhalil, he developed a protean game, based on original techniques - slap, continuous breath - in which the clarinet turns in turn electric bass tower, derbouka, flute or bagpipe.
With the groups Dédale and Obsession, of which he is co-founder, he developed a new approach to traditional music and notably played with Marc Perrone, Didier Lockwood, Georges Moustaki, Arthur H, Juan-Jose Mosalini, Stracho Temelkovski.
He plays very regularly in concert with the singer Veronika Warkentin, with whom he shares several formations: a duo Kara Nube around traditional songs from around the Mediterranean and the rest of the world, l'Equipée K with a choir of 7 women around those two, .
He offers a concert in trio with singer Catherine Faure and Jacques Tribuiani in electroacoustic record, around traditional music from central France and their compositions, and Le petit bal Ratamouche alongside Catherine Faure and Anne-Lise Foy.
He shares the stage in duet with the percussionist Carlo Rizzo.
Jean-Pierre composed and directed the contemporary part of the Arc Nord Mediterranée ensemble, a meeting of four groups of traditional Occitan, Mayorquain, Calabrian and Catalan music during the years 2017 and 2018. He is an associate artist of the May Occitan festival that May in Orb valley (34).
In addition, he regularly collaborates on contemporary choreographic creations - Cie LANABEL, Annabelle Bonnéry and François Deneulin, Cie D.I.T. Robert Seyfried in collaboration with Suzanne Linke, Cie De Koning and the Queen - and theatrical - Cie les 7 familles / Michel Ferber, Apethi / Philippe Pujol.
In terms of pedagogy, he is one of the founders of the courses organized by Mydriase in which he runs clarinet and improvisation workshops.
