      Behind the

      Design

Thanks to privileged access to the original tools preserved by MuPop (Musée des Musiques Populaires) and Django Reinhardt’s own SELMER guitar housed at the Musée de la Musique – Cité de la Musique-Philharmonie de Paris, luthiers Gérald Alonso and Fabian Le Dosseur — technical leads on the project — have meticulously reconstructed the original design.

Working closely with the museum’s scientific team, they studied historic models in depth and successfully uncovered the legendary tonewood assembly techniques that defined the original SELMER Paris guitars. These new models stay true to their signature voice while featuring improved ergonomics and greater musical versatility, now enhanced by integrated electrification.

Henri SELMER Paris’ master craftspeople, renowned for their precision work with noble materials like brass and ebony, redesigned and hand-fabricated the tuners and tailpiece at the historic Mantes-la-Ville facility. The result: refined aesthetics, improved ergonomics, and unparalleled attention to detail. Find out more about the design in our dedicated article.

      Testimonials

The biggest surprise was rediscovering the sound of a SELMER on a brand-new guitar made today. This particular grain... The sound is perfectly balanced across the entire fingerboard. The neck is very comfortable. This guitar has no flaws – it’s comfortable, it’s beautiful, it’s finely crafted, it sounds great, and the pickup is extraordinary.
      Angelo Debarre
What immediately struck me was how balanced and easy it is to play. It’s a guitar with real dynamics. I also really like the tuners. They’re very smooth, and whether tuning up or down, the movement is even and precise. It’s a great feel — very, very accurate.
      Antoine Boyer
I find it has a very clear sound, and it's powerful too. I play what’s called 'la pompe manouche', and I can say that for anyone who wants to accompany themselves, it’s very easy to play.
