Elisa Urrestarazu
Elisa Urrestarazu Capellán was born in Málaga (Spain) in 1987. She completed her Superior degree in saxophone studies at the Conservatory of Málaga, University of Málaga (Pedagogy degree), and Conservatoire Jacques Thibaud of Bordeaux (France) with Marie Bernadette Charrier, being awarded with the prize Music Málaga Fundation for the best academic record of her promotion.
Elisa has been awarded with 1st prize at the Competition for Soloists at the Conservatoire of Málaga, 1nd and 2nd prize at the Competition MálagaCrea (Young musicians competition), 1st prize at the International Ramón Guzmán Saxophone Competition in Santiago de Compostela, 1st prize at the Competition MálagaCrea, 4th prize at the International Competition Intermusica in Birkfeld (Austria), semifinalist at the competition The Voice of Saxophone in the Modern World in Moscow (Russia), 3rd prize at the International Saxophone Competition in Lodz (Poland), gold medal with the mention 'excellent' and the SACEM Prize at the Concour Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes, finalist in the Torneo Internazional di Musica (TIM) in París and semifinal round in the International Saxophone Competition Jean Marie Londeix, Bangkok, have been the awards obtained in national and international competitions.
In orchestral groups, she collaborates as a member and solois saxophone in orchestras and wind band, highlighting the Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid (BSMM), Malaga, Granada, Bilbao, Bordeaux and the European Youth Wind Orchestra (EUYWO), Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra (OFM) , Malaga Provincial Symphony Orchestra (OSPM), National Orchestra and Choir of Spain (OCNE), at the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, Teatro Echegaray, Palacio Euskalduna, Auditorium Nacional de Madrid, Sala Maria Cristina de Málaga and Auditorium de Bordeaux (France). The absolute premiere of Mercurial by composer Eneko Vadillo stands out, for saxophone and orchestra (Leonardo BBVA scholarship) with the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a teacher she has been invited to teach in Malaga, Seville, Ciudad Real, Cartagena, Alicante, Trento and Valencia. At the same time, he directs and works as a group and creative project with dance, electronics, literature and audiovisual, acting in philharmonic societies in Almería, Malaga, Fundación Juan March in Madrid, ADDA in Alicante (within the circuits of the CNDM, National Center of Musical Diffusion) and at Noches en los Jardines de los Reales Alcázares of Seville, among others.
At present, she combines the saxophone education with the performances classical and contemporany, and she enriches the saxophone repertoire collaborating with composers.
Elisa is part of Henri Selmer Paris artists ambassadors.
