Gabor Bunford Buga
Gabor Bunford studied classical clarinet in Sarajevo and Novi Sad and also finished his classic saxophone studies at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in 2009 as the first graduated saxophonist in Serbia.
Since the mid-90s, he has been professionally engaged in music, playing as a concert and studio musician in jazz and pop ensembles and with famous musicians such as Djordje Balasevic, Vlado Georgiev, Zdravko Colic, Sylvester Levay, Massimo Savic, Dino Dvornik, Saban Bajramovic, Dado Topic, Dejan Cukic, Boris Rezak, Jelena Tomasevic, Bojana Stamenov, Aleksandra Kovac, Aleksandra Radovic, Tijana Bogicevic, Tanja Jovicevic, Marija Serifovic, Zeljko Vasic, Ksenija Mijatovic, Aleksandar Dujin, Majamisty trio, Lexington Band, Nicim Izazvan, Vrane, Love Hunters, DLM, Vojvodjanski Blues Band, Apsolutno Romanticno, Review Orchestra RTV, Yupika Quintet, Colibri, Leb & Sol, NS Big Band and many others. He has over 3,000 concert performances in Serbia, the UK, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands, Belgium, Montenegro, Macedonia, Australia, New Zealand
Bunford has also worked as the art director of the Subotica International Jazz Festival “Jazzik” for 10 years. He founded the Saxophone Summer School in Subotica and is often a member of the jury at domestic and international competitions. From 2006 to 2012, he worked at the Music School in Subotica as a saxophone teacher. Currently, he is employed as an assistant professor in the saxophone department at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. His students have won numerous awards in national and international music competitions in Serbia.
He is also a member of the NS Big Band, Bojana Stamenov Band, Rogati and the SUper Saxophone Quartett.
He has been awarded with the prestigious Dr. Ferenc Bodrogvari Award by the City of Subotica in 2010 for the contribution to culture development with his pedagogical work in music education.
