Javier Linares
Javier Linares is a saxophonist that combines tradition and avant-garde, obtaining as a result a young performer capable of transmitting the broad sentiment of music. Since 2018 he is a professor of saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Music ´Victoria Eugenia´ in Granada and endorser of the prestigious brand Henri Selmer Paris.
Natural from Granada, he began his musical studies with his father, developing his saxophone training and bachelor degree at the conservatories of Cadiz and Seville (Spain), with Miguel Garrido and José A. Santos, being awarded the ´Graduate Cum Laude´ unanimously by the court. Eager to expand his training, he obtained his University Expert and Master´s degree in Musical Interpretation at the Andalucia International University (UNIA) studying with Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Arno Bornkamp, Eric Devallon and Johan van der Linden, finishing them with the qualification of ´Outstanding Cum Laude´. Similarly, he also holds a Master's degree in Musical Research at the La Rioja International University.
After receiving scholarships from Yamaha and Henri Selmer Paris, he began his musical career with Nobuya Sugawa and Claude Delangle, collaborating in various public master classes.
Like a soloist, he has premiered numerous works and collaborated with the most prestigious formations of Spain (Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra and Community of Madrid Symphony Orchestra) performing at numerous festivals and in the best Spanish´s halls (National Music Auditorium, Palau de la Música Catalana, Teatro Maestranza Theater, Miguel Delibes Auditorium), as well as in Europe (Genoa, Rome, Ljubljana and Paris). He has also recorded for the television channel Arte, RNE, Radio Clásica, RTVCM and RTVE.
Combining his artistic facet and the chamber music, he is the co-founder of the Tetraktys saxophone quartet, the Ilíberis duo and the Farben duo. With these chamber groups, he promotes the role of the saxophone for different formations, activity that combines with the development of teaching in numerous master classes, in Spain and several countries of Europe.
He has been principal saxophone for more than a decade in the Music Unit of the General Air Command (Madrid) and the Music Unit of the Infantry Regiment ´Inmemorial del Rey Nº1´ of the Army Headquarters. Currently, he is the International Relations´ coordinator of the Royal Conservatory of Music ´Victoria Eugenia´ of Granada and the artistic-musical director of the saxophone classroom, organising the annual ´Granada Sax Event´ international festival.
The sound should be an imitation of the human voice, clear, clean mischievous and sentimental.
