Jean-Marc Padovani
Saxophonist and inventive composer Jean-Marc Padovani is convinced that one of the main qualities of jazz lies in its openness to other musical forms. With his quartet Chants du Monde in particular, this familiar with the music of the South has taken an interest in a number of instruments, modes, structures and climates, which he considers to be "an unlimited and permanent source of inspiration".
He has worked with André Jaume, Jean-Louis Chautemps, Claude Barthélémy, Michel Marre, Louis Sclavis, Michel Godard, Bobby Rangell, Mal Waldron, Benny Wallace, Gérard Marais, David Liebmann, Paul Motian, Jean-Marie Machado, J. F. Jenny Clark, among others, and has written an impressive amount of music for theatre, film and dance.
After about twenty albums, Jean-Marc Padovani is back on the scene with his new album Motian in Motion to celebrate the memory of the great drummer Paul Motian, who passed away in November 2011, and with whom he had the opportunity to play in 1996.
