Miguel Ángel Lorente
Miguel Ángel Lorente began studying the saxophone with Enrique de Tena at the Conservatory of Getafe (Madrid), his hometown. He obtained his Higher Diploma with the qualification of "Matrícula de Honor" at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid with Manuel Miján in 2005. He continued his studies at the CNR of Lyon with Jean Denis Michat, and regularly participates in the master classes of Vincent David and Arno Bornkamp. In 2006, he obtained his Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude at the Complutense University of Madrid. He plays regularly with the Madrid Harmony Orchestra, the Spanish Radio Television Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Spain.
In 2006, he joined Claude Delangle's class at the CNSMD in Paris, and participated in numerous projects, including a tour of the United States and concerts in France, Berlin and Thailand. During his stay in Paris, he collaborates with IRCAM, and many composers of the CNSMDP. He premiered the Ihesi concerto, by Iñaki Estrada, for saxophone and orchestra in 2007, with the CNSMDP Orchestra. He has also performed in Madrid, Barcelona, Colonne, Berlin, Ljubljana, Bucharest, Paris, Lyon, Rome, Milan, Florence, Turin, Israel, Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago, Santiago de Chile, México DF, and Bangkok.
He is a laureate of several international competitions: First Prize at the VIII Villa de Benidorm International Saxophone Competition 2007, Second Prize at the Marco Fiorindo International Competition in Turin 2007, and Third Prize at the L'Haÿ-Les-Roses International Competition 2010.
In June 2010 he obtained his Master's degree at the CNSMD in Paris with the mention "very good unanimously" for the instrumental realization and "very good" for his artistic research project "the relationship between the composer and the performer" where he created three pieces with real-time electronic device (soprano, alto, baritone and tubax saxophones).
He has been a saxophonist of the Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Música de Madrid for five years and currently he is professor of saxophone class speciality at the Higher Music Centre of the Basque Country, Musikene (San Sebastián, Spain). He is also soloist of the Multilateral Ensemble.
