Thibaut Canaval
Born in 1982, Thibaut Canaval started playing music at the age of 10 at the Saint-Maur des fossés music conservatory. There he studied the saxophone with Jean Ollivier and Nicolas Prost. Seven years later he obtained his musical studies diploma unanimously with the congratulations of the jury and left to perfect his skills with Jean-Yves Fourmeau and Vincent David.
Winner of many European competitions such as Gap, Léopold Bellan, Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, he has also been a scholarship recipient from the Lion's Club foundation. Very attracted by pedagogy, he joined the Cefedem of Ile-de-France and was awarded his State diploma in 2006.
Thibaut Canaval divides his activity between teaching, concerts and organizing events for the promotion of the saxophone. Professor in the Paris region, he is also the founder of the “Saxo Voce” ensemble and artistic director of the “Stage de Virtuosité et d'Interprétation”, the “Saxo Voce” International Competition and a summer academy which attracts students from all over the world.
Collaborating with the best concert performers and educators, he performs in Europe, Japan and Taiwan and has recently been entrusted with the management of a collection at Éditions Soldano. He dedicates many works for saxophone written in particular by Thierry Escaich, Karol Beffa, Olivier Kaspar, Johan Farjot, André Bon, Bertrand Peigné, Fabien Cali, Claude Georgel, Philippe Geiss, Jean-Denis Michat, Gilles Martin, Émile Lukas, Patrice Morandeau and Matthieu Alvado.
