The engraving, inspired by a rediscovered score
While the origins of Maison SELMER are often associated with Henri SELMER, his brother Alexandre, a renowned clarinetist in the United States, greatly contributed to the company's presence in America in the early 20th century.
During his career with major orchestras (Boston, Cincinnati…), Alexandre Selmer composed a clarinet study dedicated to his musician friend George Bundy, symbolizing the musical dialogue and artistic sharing that has been dear to our Maison from its inception.
Recently rediscovered in our workshops, this document became the starting point for the design of our anniversary edition engraving, entrusted to designer Jérémie Bernard. Reimagined, this document transforms into an imaginary score, where each note engraved on the instrument tells the story of a music that continues to reinvent itself...
And for this 140th anniversary, Henri SELMER Paris has even more surprises in store for you...
