Fernando Ramos
Fernando Ramos is one of Portugal’s most prominent saxophonists. Acquainted to playing both traditional repertoire as well as contemporary, he is active in performances that range from baroque to crossover and modern music. He performs regularly throughout Europe, Latin America and Australasia. As an educator he tutored a whole a new generation of saxophonists from Portugal and abroad
A graduate from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Fernando Ramos worked with numerous world class icons in the classical saxophone world. During this period, he also collaborated with artists from various artistic backgrounds.
Fernando is the resident saxophonist of the Oporto Symphonic Orchestra-Casa da Música and frequently collaborates in projects with the Remix Ensemble and the Casa da Música’s educational department.
He regularly performs in prestigious concert halls of Germany, Holland, United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, Colombia, Romania, France, Spain and Portugal. He teaches at the prestigious Oporto Superior School of Music and Performing Arts-ESMAE. University of Aveiro and the Espinho Professional School of Music.
A member of KinetixDuo with Jeffery Davis (vibraphone), STP|trio with Telmo Marques (piano) & Gonçalo Dias (Bass trombone), ~Grain[z] with Nuno Aroso (multi-percussion) & Dimitris Andrikopolos (Electronics), he also co-founded QuadQuartet and in 2010 created the ensemble FLUX Collective.
