François Théberge
Saxophonist, trombonist, composer and arranger, François Théberge was born in Montreal in 1963. Living in the USA from 1985 to 1990, he will have the opportunity to integrate into the American jazz scene in addition to continuing his studies.
In 1986, he was hired by the Glenn Miller Big Band of New York as saxophonist and arranger; 14-month world tour (1986-87). In 1990 he is hired by the Rhône-Alpes regional orchestra and moves to France. He is also involved in many artistic (Toulouse Le Mirail University, McGill University) and pedagogical (head of the Jazz class of the CNR of Montpellier from 2002 to 2007, Music Academy of Katowice in Poland from 2010 to 2011) projects.
In collaboration with the drummer Alan Jones, he recorded a record on unreleased songs and texts in Portland, USA (Another View/Origin Records 2012). He creates his own label (Round Records) and records two discs (duo with double bassist Sylvain Romano (2012) and a quartet House of Earth (2014). Since the summer of 2012, he participates in Archie Shepp's Big Band on Attica Blues.
