Kosuke Hara
From Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Kosuke Hara is a highly accomplished clarinetist, born and raised in Japan. He completed his undergraduate studies at Showa University of Music, where he not only graduated with distinction but also received a special award. Continuing his pursuit of musical excellence, Kosuke went on to complete the master's course at the same university, earning the prestigious President's Award upon graduation.
Under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Hitoshi Sekiguchi, Yusuke Noda, and Masaharu Yamamoto, Kosuke honed his skills as a clarinetist. His repertoire includes notable performances of the clarinet concertos Freebirds (Japan premiere) by S. McAllister and Clarinet Concerto (Japan premiere) by Artie Shaw with the Showa Wind Symphony. These performances were recorded live and released on CD by the renowned Japanese label CAFUA Records.
In December 2015, Kosuke marked a significant milestone with his inaugural solo recital, featuring a commissioned work for contrabass clarinet by Itaru Sakai, alongside several Japan premieres by world-renowned foreign composers, all of which garnered acclaim.
In September 2016, Kosuke further showcased his musical prowess with a performance of a clarinet concerto co-commissioned by Daisuke Shimizu and the Showa University of Music Ae-o-lus Clarinet Choir.
Since completing his master's studies, Kosuke has been a member of the Teatro Giglio Showa del Orchestra. Currently, he holds the positions of clarinetist and contrabass clarinetist with the prestigious Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra. In addition to his performing career, he imparts his knowledge and passion for music as a part-time lecturer at Showa University of Music and Tokyo College of Music, specializing in the wind band academy major.
