Alberto Sánchez García
Alberto Sánchez García started playing the clarinet when he was 7 years old, under the guidance of Carlos Pérez and Gemma González. In 2020 he completed his Bachelor with Justo Sanz at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid; in 2022 he received his Master degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying with Arno Piters, Davide Lattuada and Harmen de Boer. During his studies, he has also participated in master classes with Matthias Schorn, Calogero Palermo, Paul Meyer, Phillipe Berrod, Vicente Alberola, etc.
Alberto has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Dutch Nationaal Jeugdorkest (NJO), and the Spanish JONDE, where he worked with conductors like Teodor Currentzis, Ivan Fischer, Marin Alsop, Sir Antonio Pappano, Manfred Honneck, Pablo Heras-Casado, among others.
He also collaborates with professional orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Phion Orkest van Gelderland & Overijssel, Basque National Orchestra, ORCAM (Orquesta y Coro de la comunidad de Madrid). He is also part in 2024 of an apprenticeship scheme in the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
Alberto's prizes and awards include First Prize in the Third International Bass Clarinet Competition in Ávila (2018), First Prize in the Fifth Villa de Ourense International Clarinet competition (2019), and EUYO's Sir Ian Stoutzker Award (2023).
From September 2024, he is Eb and second clarinet in Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, working with chief conductor Lahav Shani.
