Masaki Shirako
Hailing from Shiga Prefecture, Shirako Masaki is a distinguished clarinetist whose journey in music is marked by exceptional achievements. Graduating at the pinnacle of his class from Kyoto City University of Arts, Department of Music, he embarked on a path of excellence. His talent was further recognized when he was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Rohm Music Foundation to pursue his studies in Germany, where he graduated with top honors from Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Cologne University of Music and Dance).
Masaki's remarkable skill on the clarinet has garnered international acclaim, including winning the first prize in the wind instrument category at the 6th Padova International Music Competition and the first prize at the 4th Mercadante International Clarinet Competition.
Masaki has graced renowned stages worldwide, performing as a soloist with esteemed orchestras such as the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, and Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra. Currently serving as the Assistant Principal Clarinetist of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, he continues to captivate audiences with his artistry.
In addition to his performing career, Masaki shares his passion and expertise as a part-time lecturer at Hokkaido University of Education and Hokusho University. His dedication to music education ensures that his legacy extends beyond the stage, inspiring future generations of musicians.
Masaki's instruments of choice are the Henri SELMER Paris B♭ and A Signature and the E♭ Recital clarinets.
