Francesco Loiacono
Francesco Loiacono graduated in saxophone at the N. Piccinni Conservatory in Bari under the guidance of Fabio Sammarco, and later specialized with Marco Gerboni.
Subsequently, he undertook an intense chamber music activity with the Fandango Sax Quartet and, currently, with the Eclectic Duo (sax-pianoforte), a project focused on the music of the second half of the 20th century and contemporary music.
For several years now, he has regularly been collaborating with the Petruzzelli Theatre Orchestra, as well as with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Metropolitan City of Bari (with whom he performs as soloist with music by Glazunov and Borne), with conductors such as Renato Palumbo, Michele Marvulli, Giampaolo Bisanti, Gunther Neuhold, Nir Kabaretti, Luis Bacalov, Marco Angius, Grzegorz Nowak and Sascha Goetzel.
He has performed with Pino Minafra & La Banda in prestigious European festivals and concert halls such as the Philharmonie in Berlin, Gasteig in Munich, La Seine Musicale and the Basilica Cathedral of Saint-Denis in Paris, Lille Opera, Helmut List Halle in Graz.
Since 2017, he has been teaching “Performance and Interpretation - Saxophone” at the Music High School of the National Boarding School “Cirillo” in Bari.
In 2020, the IMD (International Music Diffusion) published his transcription for the solo alto saxophone and saxophone ensemble of Fantaisie sur un theme original by the composer Jules Demersseman.
Currently, he is professor of saxophone at the E. R. Duni Conservatory of Music in Matera (Basilicate, Italie).
