Angelo Montanaro
Angelo Montanaro originates from Martina Franca (Italy) and currently resides in Valladolid (Spain). He studied at the Conservatorio Nino Rota in Monopoli (Italy), at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome with Alessandro Carbonare and at the Haute École de Musique (Switzerland) in Geneva with Thomas Fridlie, Romain Guyot and Michel Westphal.
He has taken part in Festivals such as Verbier, Varignana Music Festival, Ritratti, Nuove Carriere, Ravenna Musica and the Orchestra Mozart's chamber music concerts. He has also played at the Koblenz Guitar Festival and recorded the premier of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Morning in Iowa alongside David Knopfler from Dire Straits and the Ensemble '05. He has collaborated with many renowned artists including Eddie Daniels, Ray Chen, Gordan Nikolic, Beatrice Rana, Kirill Troussov, Lorenzo Micheli, among others.
Angelo leads a very active and eclectic freelance career, combining orchestral and chamber music. He performs with a great variety of orchestras including the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Orchestra Mozart, the Orchestra National de France, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Hallé Orchestra, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchester, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Verbier Festival and Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra dell' Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Stresa Festival Orchestra, the Ensemble Contrachamps, the Orquesta de Castilla y Leon, the Orquesta Sinfonica de Madrid and the Teatro la Fenice. He works with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Zubin Metha, Charles Dutoit, Frans Bruggen, Antonio Pappano, Herbert Blomstedt, Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda, Fabio Luisi, Manfred Honeck, Daniel Harding and Yannick Nezet-Seguin.
He has performed as a soloist with the Kwazulu-Nation Orchestra (Durban), Orchestra Haydn di Trento e Bolzano, the Filarmonica di Torino, Tibor Varga Festival Orchestra, the Orchestra G.Verdi, Ensemble '05, Società dei Concerti di Bari and Orchestra della Magna Grecia.
He has obtained various prizes in international competitions, such as Unisa Pretoria, Città di Chieri, Marco Fiorindo, CNME Riddes, Rino Viani, Giuseppe Tassis, Pedro Bote, Città di Carlino, Saverio Mercadante and Audimozart.
In addition to his performance work he also gives master classes in Italy, Spain, Switzerland and South Africa.
Since 2016 is Chamber Music Professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Castilla y León in Salamanca (Spain).
