Francisco José Gil Ortiz
He made his musical studies in Albacete with the teacher J. Carlos Vila and in the RCSM in Madrid, with the professors J. Vicente Peñarrocha and Justo Sanz, with Honors. Also, he has a diploma in Musical Teaching from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, a master course in Musical Research of the International University of Valencia (VIU) and has finished his studies of Orchestra Conducting in the RCSM in Madrid.
He has been a member of the Joven Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, the O. des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, the European Youth Wind Orchestra, the World Orchestra Jeunesses Musicales, the Netherlands Young Orchestra and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra. He has collaborated with several orchestras like the ORTVE and the Municipal Wind Band of Madrid. He has been a member of the Municipal Wind Band of Albacete and has taught courses at the Conservatoires of Amaniel (Madrid) and Alcalá de Henares, and currently teaches at the Conservatoire of Castilla-La Mancha. He is on leave from his post as conductor of the Spanish National Police Wind Band.
He won prizes in several national and international clarinet competitions and more than 15 awards in chamber music competitions with the cellist Georgina Sánchez (duo Santor-Gilort). As a soloist he has interpreted works from Mozart, Spohr, Mendelssohn, Bernstein, Perón, Weber, Calatayud, Françaix, Copland... He has performed in Europe and America, where he has also participated in radio and television recordings. Recently, he has been invited as member of jury in the contest Rovere d´oro in San Bartolomeo al Mare (Italy).
His records are : Works for E-flat clarinet with the pianist Elías Romero (one of the few records dedicated to this instrument); Leyenda, focused on the Spanish music for clarinet and piano; and Beethoven/Tausch with music from these composers for clarinet and cello duo.
