Gustavo César Yescas Núñez
Coming from a family of musicians, Gustavo César Yescas Núñez studied music at the Facultad de Música de la UNAM in Mexico with Professor Manuel Hernández, where he graduated with honours.
On a scholarship from the Turquois Foundation, he obtained the Diploma of Musical Studies with honours at the Rainer III Academy of Music and Theatre of Monaco in the class of Marie-B. Barrière Bilote.
In 2011 he won the 1st prize at the Latin American Competition for Clarinetists in Lima (Peru), as well as the 3rd prize at the First National Clarinet Competition ENM-UNAM Henri Selmer Paris 2007.
His musical activities allow him to perform as a soloist with the Banda Sinfónica de la ENM- UNAM, the Banda Sinfónica de la Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey, the Banda Sinfónica de la Policía Federal, the Clarinet Ensemble of Monterrey, the Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata and the Orquesta Filarmónica del Desierto, Coahuila de Zaragoza.
In 2015 he was appointed Principal Clarinet soloist and super soloist at the Orquesta Filarmónica del Desierto in northern Mexico. In 2017 he became Professor of Clarinet at the Monterrey School of Music and Dance. In addition, Gustavo Yescas is the organiser of the Monterrey International Clarinet Festival and the director and founder of the Monterrey Clarinet Ensemble.
