Kei Funaguma
Kei Funaguma has been principal clarinetist of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan since 2019 and has worked with conductors such as Tadaaki Otaka, Eiji Oue, Charles Dutoit, Hubert Soudant, Jakub Hrusa and Eliahu Inbal.
He was born in Japan and graduated from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and received Master’s degree from DePaul University. He has been a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago under Riccardo Muti and has performed with leading conductors and musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, Sir Mark Elder, Riccardo Muti.
He has studied with Yoshiyuki Kamei, Brooks Nobuo Thon, Richard Hawkins, Larry Combs, and Stephen Williamson.
He has participated in Blossom Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and Affinis Summer Music Festival.
In addition to his performance work, he teaches at the Osaka Art University and the Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts (DWCLA).
