Nicolas Fargeix was born in Burgundy, in Chalon-sur-Saône. He was unanimously awarded first prize for clarinet at the Paris Conservatoire in Michel Arrignon's class, and then first prize for chamber music in the class of Christian Ivaldi and Ami Flammer, in sonata formation.
A prizewinner in the Geneva and Seville international competitions, he performs occasionally as a soloist and chamber musician, substitutes in a number of orchestras and is a member of the TM+ and Nomad Lib ensembles.
A jazz enthusiast, he plays with the Spirit of Chicago Orchestra (a 1930s dance orchestra), the Paris Early Jazz Band (a mobile Dixieland orchestra), the Pagaya quintet, the Maxima Poesia quartet, the HPDF trio and takes part in musicals (Un Violon sur le Toit, Singin' in the Rain, Kiss me Kate, chicago, An American in Paris, Guys and Dolls, Funny Girl, Cabaret, A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum, Hello Dolly... ) as a multi-instrumentalist (clarinet/saxophone/flute).
