Pablo Fernández
Born in Madrid and trained at the Superior Conservatories of Madrid and Versailles, Pablo Fernández has established himself as one of the most remarkable and versatile clarinettists of his generation in Spain.
In the field of chamber music, he was awarded the Honorary Prize of the R.C.S.M. of Madrid, First Prize of the First Chamber Music Competition of the Comunidad de Madrid, as well as the Diploma of Merit of the "Future Music" Competition in Rome.
He has made recordings for R.N.E. and with the Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid for the labels Naxos, Emi and Deutsche Grammophon.
He is the founder of the Trío d'Anches de Madrid and the MAD4Clarinets quartet, highlighting with this quartet the absolute premiere of Cristóbal Halffter's Concert a 4 at the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid with the Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid; the premiere in Spain of the Concert No. 2 of Frank Cibulka Silvianum with the Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid at the Monumental Theater of Madrid, and the concert at the Pablo Casals Hall in Puerto Rico, as well as the participation in the World Clarinet Congress, ClarinetFest in 2015.
He studied pedagogy at the Complutense University of Madrid and has collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla y León, the Virtuosos Orchestra of Moscow, the Guerrero Project in Madrid, the New York Opera, the Reina Sofía Orchestra, the R.T.V.E. Symphony Orchestra, etc.
Among his numerous performances as a soloist, it is worth highlighting the successes achieved at the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, the Monumental Theatre of Madrid, the Autumn Festival of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Teatros del Canal in Madrid, and the Contemporary Music Festival of Alicante, at the Santander Festival, the Venice Biennale, the Cervantes Institute in Warsaw, the Canal de Isabel II Foundation, the Juan March Foundation in Madrid, the Center for the Diffusion of Contemporary Music in Spain, the ORF Radiokulturhaus Vienna, the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico, etc.
Principal clarinet of the Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid (1992-2018), professor of the Julián Menéndez International Clarinet Course, full professor of clarinet and chamber music at the CPM of Madrid-Amaniel and professor at the Alto Performance ESMAR Higher School of Music in Valencia.
