Pedro Garbajosa
Pedro Garbajosa was born in Madrid. He studied music at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music in Madrid, obtaining the Higher Diplomas of Clarinet and Chamber Music, with Prizes and Medals of Honor in both specialties. Among the people who contributed to his musical training, he is especially grateful to the masters. V. Sausor, M. Muñoz and V. Peñarrocha (clarinet), P. Zazpe (solfeggio and music theory), J. Villa Rojo (harmony) and L. Rego (chamber music).
He has participated in several advanced courses with J. Tomás, W. Boeykens, A. Pay, C. Myerscough, J.L. Estelles…, but it is with the English master A. Pay that he studied regularly from 1992 to 1996. He received a scholarship from the government of the region of Madrid to carry out postgraduate studies at the International Academy of Music "Lorenzo Perosi" (Biella, Italy).
He has been a member of various chamber music groups. He was a founding member of the Young Symphony Orchestra of the Department of Madrid. Among other formations, he has collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of Madrid, the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla y León, the Symphony Orchestra of the RTVE, the Hanói Philharmonic Orchestra (Vietnam), the Municipal Symphony Band of Pereira (Colombia). He has recorded three compact discs with the contemporary music group Cosmos (record company EMEC and SEVERAL RECORDS) and one compact disc with the trio Desde el Sur de Europa (label SONY FOLK). He also collaborated with the group Xeque Mate in the recording of Alen da Lenda, (record company RESISTENCIA), with the GCMUS of the University of Santiago (label GCMUS).
He has recorded, with the Areteia ensemble, two other compact discs: Music for Camus, by S. Mariné and Acrylic and Oil, (record company VERSO). He has recordings for R.N.E., Canal+, RAI and Radio France.
His concert activities have taken him, in addition to the main stages of Spain, to France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Egypt, Japan, Vietnam, Colombia and Morocco.
Since 1997, he has also devoted himself to the study and teaching of Yoga, especially applied to the performing arts. He is a disciple of Sri Madhavacharia Yogui Dhasa, from whom he obtained the diploma of Maha Yoga Siromani (higher teacher of Yoga). He is also a graduate in Vedic Medicine and Biospinology. He is a member of the Sanatana Dharma Association. In 2014, he did a master's degree at Rey Juan Carlos University, presenting a thesis entitled Yogatherapy for Musicians: Towards a new consciousness to express who we are.
He has given numerous summer courses in Barcelona (Conservatory of Vallés), Segovia (Música selecta), Sepúlveda, Salamanca (at the Professional Conservatory of Music and at the Cultural Association "Diego Pisador" Segovia (Festival "New Musical Generation"/ Katarina Gurska), Sepúlveda Estudios Musicales Rondó), City of Elda (assistant of Maxime Muñoz). He has also given courses, lectures and a master class in the Superior Conservatories of the Balearic Islands, Alicante and in the professional conservatories of Ávila, Valladolid, Ciudad Real, Campo de Criptana and Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real), Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Zaragoza, Salamanca, several professional conservatories in Madrid (Amaniel, Joaquín Turina, Ángel Arias, Arturo Soria, Getafe, Adolfo Salazar and Moreno Torroba, Instituto Cervantes of Cairo, Instituto Cervantes of Alexandria, National Academy of Music of Vietnam and at the Cultural Training School of Pereira (Colombia).
He is currently developing his concert activity as a member of the Dharma Trio, the Areteia Quartet (resident group of the Autonomous University of Madrid) and the RCSMM Wind Quintet. He teaches clarinet and yogatherapy for musicians at the Royal Superior Conservatory of Music of Madrid.
