Phillip Solomon
Clarinetist Phillip Solomon enjoys a diverse career of heartfelt music making and education. Deeply passionate about orchestral music, he is the Acting Section Clarinet/Bass Clarinet of the Fort Worth Symphony for the 2024-2025 season. During the summer, he serves as Second Clarinet of the Glimmerglass Opera Festival Orchestra.
For two years prior to moving to Fort Worth, he performed regularly as an extra musician with the Metropolitan Opera in New York on both second clarinet and bass clarinet, and also appeared with the MET Orchestra Chamber Ensemble at Carnegie Hall.
As a freelancer in New York City, he has performed with the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New Jersey Symphony, Albany Symphony, and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, among others. He has appeared as a guest principal clarinet with the Metropolitan Opera, Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center, and the Orchestra Lumos.
A passionate educator, Phillip served on the clarinet faculty at the 92nd Street Y School of Music in New York.
Phillip Solomon received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School, with additional summer studies at the Tanglewood Music Center and the Spoleto Festival USA.
